SENTINEL CLASS COAST GUARD
An accurate model of the USCG fast response cutter
The Sentinel-class cutter, also known as
Fast Response Cutter, is part of the United States Coast
Guard's Deepwater program. Up to 58 vessels are to be
built by the Louisiana-based firm Bollinger Shipyards,
using a design from the Netherlands-based Damen Group.
The Department of Homeland Security's budget proposal to
Congress, for the Coast Guard, for 2021, stated that, in
addition to 58 vessels to serve the Continental US, they
requested an additional six vessels for its portion of
Patrol Forces South West Asia.
Sentinel Class design: The Sentinel Class is a modified version of the Damen
Stan 4708 patrol vessel. Modifications include the
addition of fixed pitch in place of variable pitch
propellers, a stern launching ramp and watertight
bulkheads. They can conduct all missions in sea
state 4 and survive in sea state 6. The 164-foot ship It can accommodate a
crew of 22, including 18 enlisted, two chief petty
officers and two officers. The ship can endure for a minimum
of five days at sea.
Propulsion: The Sentinel Class is powered by two 20-cylinder MTU
engines developing a total power output of 4,300kW,
providing a maximum speed of over 28kt. The
bow thruster delivers 75kW power.
Features: The cutter features a bow thruster for manoeuvering in
narrow anchorages and channels. Small underwater fins
fitted on the vessel resist the rolling and pitching
from large waves. The FAST RESPONSE CUTTER (FRC) can launch short-range
prosecutor (SRP) rigid-hull inflatable boats for rescue
and interception missions.
Armament: The main gun fitted forward is a remotely operated
Bushmaster 25mm chain-fed autocannon which
fire up to 225 rounds a minute in a maximum range of
22,ooo feet.
The cutter is also armed with four crew-served M2HB
.50-calibre machine guns.
We can make any of the
Sentinel-class cutter below.
If you are a sailor or an ex-sailor on
a ship and you'd like to change/add/subtract some
features on the model to reflect the ship at the
time of your service, just let us know.

This model is built per commission only. We require only
a small deposit (not full amount, not even half) to start the process. The
remaining balance won't be due until the model is
completed.

Use a large-screen
device to view a model. A phone is too small and all models appear
the same or different marginally. Look for photos of propellers,
the RHIB boat, the main gun... All these
intricate details take much more time to make and
require higher skills and some modelers are shy to
show them.
A model that looks good from afar but
might disappoint big time when held in your hands
(the two-foot test.)
