ALLURE of the SEAS
This model is an example of ModelShipMaster's
superior cruise ships. Models might look
similar but when examine closely, they are quite
at different levels. When you search online, pay
particular attention to accuracy, details and
construction method. Look for large enough
photos to see if the windows are dark decal
(will peel off soon), painted black, or superior real cuts. This is a hollow hull,
plank-on-frame model that one average man can
carry easily as we have done so in a
personal delivery to a shipyard.
MS Allure of the
Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship owned and
operated by Royal Caribbean International. Together with her sister ship, Oasis of the
Seas, she holds the record for the largest
passenger ship ever constructed, although Allure
is 2" longer than Oasis, making her technically
the largest despite the fact that both ships
have identical superstructures.
Designed under the
name "Project Genesis", she was ordered from
Aker Finnyards in February 2006 and her
construction began at the Perno shipyard in
Turku, Finland, in February 2008. She was
named in May 2008 after a contest was held to
name her and her sister. Launched in 2010,
and weighing an incredible 225,282 gross
registered tons, Allure of the Seas could carry
5,400 guests. Although not an exact
duplicate of its sister ship,
the Oasis of the Seas,
both ships share some of the most innovative and
revolutionary features found on cruise ships
today, including a novel neighborhood concept
that divides the ship into seven distinct
spaces. It also shares inward-facing balcony
cabins, arguably the biggest (and best) kids
program at sea, an ice rink, a bar that rises
between three decks, simulated surfing, rock
climbing walls and an outdoor high-diving
AquaTheater.
Huge, but the ship never
feels overwhelming because its public spaces are broken
up into seven neighborhoods. The ambience and atmosphere
in each area are so distinct, it's as if there are seven
different ships on one. On Deck 4, you'll find
Entertainment Place, complete with an indoor ice skating
rink and various clubs and lounges. The Royal Promenade
is the shopping area, the length of a football field,
with a pair of enormous tented skylights to let the
sunshine pour in.
The outdoor Boardwalk neighborhood was inspired by Coney
Island, with family-friendly restaurants, shops, a
carousel and the AquaTheater. The foliage-filled Central
Park -- covered in some 12,000 plants, 60 of which are
trees -- is a more upscale restaurant and retail hub.
The fronts of decks 6 and 7 are given over to fitness
and well-being in the Vitality at Sea Spa.
Deck 14 is all about the kids in Adventure Ocean, and,
at the back of the ship, right up on Deck 15, you have
the Sports Area, complete with FlowRider surf
simulators, a zipline, mini-golf, Ping-Pong and
basketball courts. Allure of the Seas also rarely feels
crowded. The only places where you get a sense of the
sheer number of people onboard are in the Royal
Promenade during parade times, on sea days round the
pool deck, and prime food times in the Windjammer Cafe
buffet restaurant.
Allure of the Seas is a
ship that celebrates youthful exuberance in the form of
surf simulators, rock climbing walls and some of the
best children's facilities at sea. But the ship also
clearly appeals to active couples, mainly in their 30s
to 50s. Numerous spaces, especially the foliage-filled
Central Park, provide a relatively kid-free ambience.
You can sit in Central Park under a tree, drink in hand,
stars above you, birdsong all around, and feel almost
alone -- despite being overlooked by hundreds of cabins.
This primarily wood Allure of the Seas
model has the following qualities:
-
Plank-on-frame hull.
This construction method gives accurate hulls, as
artisans create the frame of the hull exactly like in
drawings. The solid hull method, on the other hand,
employs most guesswork on the degree of curvature.
- Windows and portholes are cutouts (not black decals),
uniform, and on straight lines.
- Captivating
artistic lighting, with different colors and green/red navigation
light that will light up your special evenings.
LED light powered by standard 9v battery for your
convenience or by a compact adapter to wall
outlet. Cheap
model makers have neither the
artistry sense nor the necessary engineering ability.
Their light is ugly
incandescent
bright white placed on the model's floor like
