The
Maersk Alabama was hijacked 240 nautical miles (280
mi) of Somalia and rescued by the U.S. Navy on 12
April 2009. It was the first successful pirate
seizure of a ship registered under the American flag
since the early 19th century.
The incident was reported in the
book A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs,
and Dangerous Days at Sea
(2010) by Stephan Talty and Captain Richard
Phillips. The hijacking also inspired the 2013
film Captain Phillips, with Tom Hanks playing the
role.
This primarily wood

Don't be fooled by
junk
containership models circulating out there.
Those so-called 'models' are
mass produced by sweatshops. The middlemen import
them by container loads and when they realize that
they can't sell junk, they unload them at any prices
rather than having to pay for trash removal.
The grave errors
of their Maersk
Alabama model
below took us less than 5 minutes to spot.
