NORTHERN LEADER
A modern longline fishing vessel
The
NORTHERN LEADER is the largest and most innovative
commercial fishing longliner built in the U.S. in over
20 years. The modern fishing boat employs advanced
technology which substantially reduces fuel consumption
such as 100% LED lighting and the Diesel Electric Power
Management System that controls the vessel propulsion
units and all other electrical demands onboard. NORTHERN
LEADER uses Mustad Autoline that allows both
maximum utilization of vessel catch and preserves the
quality of the Alaskan whitefish.
This longline fishing
model was commissioned by the curator
of Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago in 2016.
The modern fishing model is one of our three boat models that are
permanently exhibited in a sealed glass at the
museum. If
