NORWEGIAN PEARL
cruise ship model
A copy of this model is on
display in NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE headquarters. Another has been
gracing
a state-of-the-art 120,000 square foot
facility
Konami Gaming, Inc. in
Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Norwegian Pearl was
launched in the Meyer Werft shipyard (in Germany)
on October 15, 2006. She made her
first service voyage on December 2, 2006, from
Southampton to Miami, Florida, where the ship was
based for her first season.
The first attempt of the ship's passage under a
power line on the Ems River in Germany is claimed
to have been the source for the massive power
outage that affected first Germany and then all of
Europe on late November 4, 2006.
Norwegian Pearl sails
Caribbean cruises out of Miami, and Alaska cruises
out of Seattle depending on the time of year. The
ship has Panamax dimensions, which make it
possible for her to transit the Panama Canal while
repositioning between the two ports.
As with the rest of Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)'s
fleet, Norwegian Pearl utilizes the "Freestyle"
cruising concept, which allows guest to dine in
any number of restaurants, in casual attire, at
times of their own choosing. Miami-based NCL
is notable for revolutionizing the cruise
experience via its "Freestyle Cruising"
philosophy. NCL has inspired other lines to
copy its more successful "freestyle" concepts.

"I am a Chief Firefighter for NCL and recently served on the
Pearl. Judging from the pics that were sent, the model is a
"spitting image" of the real
Norwegian Pearl... I'm impressed with the reproduction
and how truly exact it is! I can look at the model and recall
ever square inch of the ship... It's a great ship and the
model is equally as
impressive...
Most respectfully,
Shane.M. S."
